New Google Places Rules – How to Hide Your Address

Mentioned in yesterday’s post on the New Rule Changes for Google Places – Beware Small Businesses I mentioned that many businesses could be effected and would need to update their Google Place settings in order to adhere to the new policies.

I’ve had a number of clients ask me how to update their Google Places settings to hide their address, so I thought I would write a step by step instruction.

1.  Log into Google Places

2.  Edit your Business Info :  On the Right hand side of the screen is a box called “Your Business Info” with an edit button.

3.  Service Areas and Location Settings :  Scroll down to the second menu called “Service Areas and Location Settings” edit your business details as per the following business types:

Business Type A - Your business is brick-and-mortar and serves all customers at its location.  Set “Service Areas and Location Settings” to NO

Business Type B - Your business is home-based and serves some customers at your home and some on the road.  Set “Service Areas and Location Settings” to using the Radius tool and list off the areas you service.

Business Type C - Your business is home-based and does not serve any customers at your home. Set “Service Areas and Location Settings” to “Do not show my business address on my Maps listing”
